The electronic resident card is a national ID card equipped with IC chip containing various security functions. Since IC Chip cannot be actually counterfeited, its security is largely improved, and the citizens' new data and bio-data are transmitted, so that it performs the certification of the qualification for the easy logical access to the e-government or local administrative service.

The COS was designed to meet the requirements of electronic ID service. Basically, the OS can be flexibly expanded through the support of various multi-application programs like SSCD protection profile, encryption for strong certification, and MOC(bio certification).
